A few wet patches on the ceiling don’t feel like an emergency. They usually show up during heavy rain and then dry out once the weather clears. Easy to put off.

But here’s the thing about ceiling stains – by the time water shows up there, it’s already been travelling for a while. Through the roof cavity, along timber framing, into insulation. The stain is the last stop, not the first. Which means the clock started before you noticed anything.

Water Doesn’t Stay Where You See It

This is the part most homeowners don’t know. The entry point on the roof and the wet patch on your ceiling are rarely in the same spot.
